Unemployed Americans Applying for Blackjack and other Casino Dealer Jobs
The unemployment rate in the United States is soaring and is on a continual rise. Millions of people are out of work, some who have worked at the same job for decades. To supplement their income, people are applying for all types of jobs including dealer openings at casinos. In Colorado the local dealer school is accepting ninety people for open spots at the school. The students can learn how to deal blackjack, craps, roulette and poker. After completing the school training, the students can then find jobs at local casinos.
Seven hundred and fifty people showed up this past Wednesday to apply for the dealer jobs and five hundred and fifty people applied the next day. The applicants are hoping to get the positions because back in November the state of Colorado voted to approve the expansion of betting limits at casinos from $5 to $100 with the addition of roulette and craps.
The casinos are also allowed to stay open for twenty four hours so additional work shifts will be available. Jef Bauer who works for Golden Gaming, the operator of Colorado casinos commented: “Twenty four hour gaming adds a whole extra shift every day, seven days a week. You’re adding an extra shift in every department of the casino.”
